"The Beautiful Faith of Fearless Submission"

I have always found incredible comfort and support from reading books by John Piper. His deep insights impact me in a gradual sence; it's only after a few hours or days do I grasp what I've read or heard and it's exactly what my heart needed. I recently read this quote and it has helped me refocus my attention on Christ and not only on the people in my life. After all no person is perfect; as Christians we have a wonderfully perfect foundation in Christ who will hold us up no matter what situation or circumstance we find ourselves in.
"A Christian woman does not put her hope in her husband, or in getting a husband. She does not put her hope in her looks. She puts her hope in the promises of God...She looks away from the troubles and miseries and obstacles of life that seem to make the future bleak, and she focuses her attention on the sovereign power and love of God who rules in heaven and does on earth whatever he pleases. She knows her Bible, and she knows her theology of the sovereignty of God, and she knows his promise that he will be with her and help her strengthen her no matter what. This is the deep, unshakable root of Christian womanhood."

Mary's Heart in Martha's World

I'm rereading a book that Kelley gave me a few years ago. It's based around the story of Mary and Martha and how Christ worked on their hearts. I loved this book because it expresses all of the struggles I feel in my spiritual life. Finding time to pray, actually wanting to pray, being bold in my prayers, etc. It's just an all around awesome book. My favorite quote right now is from chapter two which is about trusting in the goodness of the Lord.
"I sometimes say, 'Lord I NEED to know!'
And the He softly responds, "No you need to trust."

I'm Still Here!

Wow, where has the time gone!? I have been meaning to write a post for the last two weeks, but between the moving and our new jobs something always seems to come up. Ever since Christmas our life has been full steam ahead! Charlie and I are so blessed to have the most thoughtful and amazing friends and family to help us get ready for all of these changes. Our California trip was especially fun and we even got to see our first celebrity Oz Perkins a.k.a. David Kidney from Legally Blond.

He is famous in the Lloyd family for, "I've spent the last 7 months deworming orphans in Somalia." Anywho, we saw him while eating in a railroad car called Carney's on Ventura Blvd. David Letterman said it was the best place to get a hamburger in LA so naturally we had to investigate for ourselves!

And it really was pretty good. It would have been even better if we could have worked up the guts to ask Oz for his autograph...

I'll put up the pictures of our fun trip as soon as I get the time to upload them. Charlie and I are settling into our new apartment and working on making it feel more like a home. We are right across the street from a super Wal-Mart too, you can imagine my excitement! As soon the house is actually presentable I'll put some pics up.
