Kadie's Graduation

Charlie and I had a lovely time visiting with his family in west Texas!

This was where his mom, Liz Lloyd, grew up and went to high school.
Kadie is the pretty blond in the middle.
After the ceremony all the cousins got together to play some late night basketball.
Conley was a flower girl in our wedding and she is growing up so fast!
Family time is the greatest!

Westward Bound...

Happy Friday! I woke up and went for my last run in Josh and Sarah's gym...I'm sure getting spoiled with all this sleeping-in business this weekend!

Charlie and I went and ate at EZ's at Charlie's sentimental request.
Which I was only too happy to oblige because I make so many of them myself.
It was fun to see him make a connection to his college memories and put himself back in that space.
Of course Charlie would say I'm reading too much into it!

Naturally we would have to get out and take a "WHOOP" picture in honor of the Junction Boys while we were in Junction, Texas.

Then we set our sights on Eldorado!

Portrail of a (long) Weekend II

When I woke up yesterday morning I went for a run for the first time on a treadmill in over 6 months.
I have started to love running outside at the park without my ipod and had forgotten how running on the belt feels.
Running at Terry Hershey park is great because I can almost get all of the outdoors I can handle early in the morning and finish my daily run before I talk myself out of exercising.
I was very thankful for Josh and Sarah's apartment gym, since I slept in until about 9 I was able to get a good run in without expiring in the Texas morning heat.

...
The Charlie and I got to catch up with our friends Stuart, Devanee and their sweet baby Asa (Ace for short).
I've known them since our College Station days and for Charlie even before then.
They are such a sweet family and we always enjoy our hang outs.

...

Then Charlie went to enjoy a day of golf and dropped me off at the Westin Resort pool.
I lounged around and soaked up the sunshine by the pool for about 4.5 hours while Charlie finished his golf game.
After meeting Josh and Sarah for another dinner of fine Mexican food we grabbed some ice cream to finish out the wonderful day!

Thoughts on Spring....

I heard a thousand blended notes,

While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And 'tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.
The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:--
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.
If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature's holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

Portrail of a (long) Weekend

Charlie and I headed out to San Antonio yesterday on our way to San Angelo, Texas for his cousin Kadie's high school graduation.

On our way Charlie read from Texas Monthly about a "Bucket List" of things to do in our great state.
One item we couldn't pass up on their list was to eat at a bar-b-q joint in Luling.

I got a kick out of the "roughneck cook off" in April....too bad we missed!
Roughnecks are some of the best people in the world.

The bar-b-q was indeed finger lickin' good!
And the cooks even let me come behind their work station for a photo opt.

We even saw a fun double "K" horseshoe hair salon!

All Hail Buc-ee's

We met up with Josh and Sarah Stagg  for the Five for Fighting concert.
It was so fun!

This is not a great picture of us but I wanted to show case the venue.
The concert was at a small historic theater in downtown San Antone and we had great seats!
I have listened to John Ondrasik's music since I was in high school so needless to say some of his songs really took me back.  John shared the background story for almost all of his songs he played.
I absolutely loved it.
...what a fantastic day

Why I love my Mama

My mom is very special to me. We are lucky enough to live in the same town and talk almost everyday. I am always thinking of her and love her very much. Here are some of the reasons why I love her:
she's proud to wear her hair au naturale

she lets me take her shopping at my favorite spots

she's so easy to talk with like one of my best friends

we go on fun adventures to thrift stores and make great finds

she lets me take out my stress on her house by cleaning and reorganizing her stuff

she tells me she loves me and is proud of me, and it means more to me than she knows

she is an amazing inspiration for me as a wife and mother....

I love my mom alot and I hope she knows!

***here's a sweet song by Taylor Swift about her mother and it brought tears to my eyes. I love you Mom!!
